JANE COURTEMANCHE, PRESIDENT
My introduction to curling was through funspiels with coworkers, and I have always loved that curling is not just about what happens on the ice, but equally about the camaraderie after the game. I joined the Midland Curling Club in 2019, and curl in Doubles and four person leagues. The winter flies by when you curl four times a week, and ski the other days.As President, I’m committed to working with the Board, staff and volunteers to provide a positive, welcoming and inclusive environment where curlers of all ages and abilities can enjoy the sport.

VICKI MARIANCHUK, VICE PRESIDENT
I’m a former competitive curler who joined the Midland Curling Club in 2023 after my husband and I relocated to the area. I’ve been serving on the board since January 2025, after volunteering to fill a vacant position, and I’m also part of the executive for the Day Curling League.
Before moving to Midland, I was deeply involved with the East York Curling Club, where I served on the board as President. During my time there, I worked closely with City of Toronto staff to help shape and manage the club’s operating model.
I’m passionate about helping rebuild a stronger, more vibrant curling calendar at the Midland Curling Club. As a first step, I’m bringing back a Women’s Bonspiel in March 2026 to help attract more curlers from out of town and grow our club’s reach.
BRIAN HUGHES, VICE PRESIDENT
I’m a retired corporate executive who’s always enjoyed helping teams and organizations reach their goals. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to serve on a variety of boards, some professional, some community-based, and many in the not-for-profit world. That includes time with the SCNetwork National Board and Executive Committee, the Victoria Order of Nurses in Durham Region, and the Community Corporation Board for VON. I’ve also been President of Youth Opportunities Unlimited, worked with the Labour Market Information Knowledge System Stakeholder Alliance, and served on the Human Resources Committee at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
I joined the Midland Curling Club in 2024 and I’m really looking forward to getting involved, giving back, and helping to grow a strong and welcoming curling community.

LESLIE HORN, SECRETARY
JOAN FRANCIS, TREASURER
I would like to put my name forward for the Treasurer position for the upcoming year. I worked for CIBC for 38 years, spending many of those years in management. In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of retail branches, I was responsible for establishing and managing annual business plans, including sales targets and expense management.
I have also served as Treasurer for the Barrie Women’s and Children’s Crisis Centre for two years, as well as for several teams in the Barrie Minor Hockey League.
I’ve enjoyed my time at the club and would appreciate the opportunity to contribute to its continued success.
I believe my financial experience, attention to detail, and background in managing budgets would allow me to contribute effectively in this role

ASHTON CASCAGNETTE, MEMBER-AT-LARGE
I started curling 16 years ago when I first joined the Little Rock league here in Midland. From the beginning, competitive curling has played a big role in my life. I skipped my high school team to OFSAA twice and went on to play at the college level for the Niagara Knights.
These days, I work at the YMCA as a lifeguard and fitness instructor, and I also work as a recreational therapist in long-term care. On the side, I run a small business building custom websites for local businesses. I’m a self-taught coder with a passion for IT, and I’ve even had the opportunity to gain professional experience working for Bethesda, the video game company.
I’m excited to be joining the board this season and look forward to bringing a younger perspective and my digital skills to help support and grow the club.
RYAN DUBEAU, MEMBER-AT-LARGE
I joined the board in February 2025 and bring with me strong ties to both the local business and sports communities. I was a junior curler in the area and returned to the game this past season by joining the Friday Night Social League.
With a solid understanding of the local business environment, I’ve taken on responsibilities related to sponsorship and events. I’m also supporting efforts to bring back an industrial league, which I believe will help strengthen the connection between our club and the wider business community.

JIM HOWARD, MEMBER-AT-LARGE
I first became acquainted with curling in 1993 while participating in a fun bonspiel with the Vancouver Transportation Club, a yearly event. Within a few short years after my introduction to curling, I was given the task to organize and co-ordinate the yearly VTC bonspiels, needless-to-say this was done with a committee of volunteers.
During my membership with the VTC (1993-2018) I served in multiple directorships roles and executive positions and in 2002 became president of the Club. After my presidency I continue to be active in the VTC by serving in various directorships until my retirement in 2018.
In April of 2021, I moved to Midland and joined the MCC in September of 2021. My first season (while participating in the Learn To Curl program) I joined the Friday Night League. And by the end of my first season, I was hooked on curling. Currently I am the Drawmaster and an executive member of the Day League.
I have volunteered numerous times since joining the MCC by participating in the Discover Curl events, Curling Day in Canada, renovating the arena walls, work parties, and other various Club related events. I believe that volunteers are critical to stability and growth of any organization and we cannot exist without them.
DIANNE RICHMOND, MEMBER-AT-LARGE
My husband Dale and I recently joined the club and fell in love with curling, and the Midland Curling Club, almost immediately. From Learn‑to‑Curl to the various leagues and bonspiels, every member we met created such a welcoming environment that we quickly became addicted to the sport.
I’m excited to bring a true “newbie” perspective to the board and help strengthen and expand the new‑member experience so others can feel just as at home as we did.
